This place is not just trash it's harmful.

This review has been a long time coming. The Wayside is the closest retail place to me so I have spent a lot of money here.

They overcharge for everything, which, fine... ultra rural convenience store.

But all their food is expired, moldy, nasty, including the candy, half of which is stale.

Then the thing that finally brought this review on is that I just got gas from them that was so bad, so contaminated with water that literally every engine I use will not run. I just spent the last week stuck with no chainsaw and no generator and I'm pretty pissed.

This use to be my favorite place to go since I live in Litchfield, just 5 miles away. This little Shell station was struggling to survive it seemed just 2 years ago when I moved to Lassen County. As new ownership took over, the place has gone straight down hill.

This morning I stopped by to get some lunch for the day, and got home to find all the items I purchased had spoiled due to poor refridgeration. I didn't expect a refund but thought the clerk who had always been pleasant, helpful and friendly would at least like to know what had happened. Instead, I am told that it is not his problem!

While they accept EBT here, I would not recommend this place to ANYONE after today.

I visited here again in 2020, January 4th, to find the mold and mildew issue the same. I said that I hoped the food was not moldy, and was assured I could bring it back. We'll see. If they honor a return this time I will update the review. If not, I will include this.

They have an employee there that doesn't understand anything we say. And they are horrible for price gouging. And there have been numerous times that we have gotten milk there which costs like almost $9 a gallon and it has been bad. I wish there was somewhere else to go out here.

I called to ask if they had a couple of things that I needed and the man on the phone asked me who I was, where I was from, and how he could help all at once and then hung up on me before I even got to answer. I tried to call back thinking I had lost connection but my call was ignored twice after that. I grew up around here and do NOT appreciate being treated like that.

Started coming in here in early 2000.....now you cant pay me to go in this place....really went downhill since change of ownership.
