One of the worst places to call. Hostile and uneasy environment. The workers seem to hate their jobs and nobody knows how to answer a phone. They all have an attitude. They all treat people like if we are bothering them. And God forbid you need to speak to someone for something simple, you will die on the phone listening to the operator. Did you know every 30 seconds the machine tells you all operators are busy and pls hold. After 10 minutes it sends you to a voicemail to leave a message. And when you finally give up and go to leave a message it will tell you you can't because the message box is full. Yup that's how they work in Elizabeth NJ division of social services.

All I can say is the rep window u get called by, determines how your day will go here.. the Caribbean lady at window 2 today 2/21 was horrific ..I came in just to turn in documentation and to get info and she became irate and seemed to want a confrontation which I refused t give her so she ordered me sit and wait till the supervisor I asked for to come in.. Luckily her colleague called me over and was super helpful . Explained what I needed too know we were done in 5 mins ..

It is really sad to take a job that involves supporting vulnerable people, just to exert your personal dispositions and issues onto them throughout aggression and attempts to humiliate

How does the place close at 4 and you arrive at 3:20 but a cop stands at the door telling you they’re closed come tomorrow before 3. By the way, they use the police as a way to CONTROL people, NOT protect people. For example, they will be rude and condescending to you then hide behind the police officers there. So, now it’s to the point where they are abusing this by putting police officers at the door at 2:50pm so no one get in even though they close at 4.

FURTHERMORE, how does that happen when you just get off the phone with them telling you come in before 4 and you will be able to speak to someone?

Mind you, this was a few weeks ago. Now they DON’T even answer the phone. It goes to voicemail or some Union county action line. Its been to get up there because they are always closed for “lunch” an hour before “lunch” even starts and if you get there after their “lunch”, the line is down the block and before you know it they are telling you to come back tomorrow.

For human to human interaction, this is horrifying.

This says a lot about the entire place. Like how does the GOVERNMENT allow them to get away with this.

The lady with the short hair at window 2 was so pleasant and sweet. I don’t know what happened to her! But she is very disrespectful. Call you up to the window and while having a full on conversation in your face, with the chewing gum with mouth open. And when she turn to talk to you it’s like she see a dog and make up her face. They can only do the time God allows them. With behavior like that. She will remain in that position until she leaves. No class or decorum. I understand it’s a difficult job! But you chose to do. There are other work out there.

I have been trying for 1 WHOLE MONTH to contact them by phone. It rings & rings & after 10 minutes it automatically hangs up on you because of course the voicemail is full so you can’t leave a message! Then they have the nerve to go on lunch from 11:30am-1p. I called 1:01pm & still CANNOT GET THROUGH!! Like this is so unacceptable people actually need help and you certainly can’t get it from them. So I guess I’m supposed to miss a whole day of work and go sit at their office to hopefully be seen. Smh this is truly sad and they need to fix their system ASAP!

If I could have given 0 star I would have, I have been trying to reach this office for 3 days straight from 8:30am-4:00pm calling none stop no one answered. Took an Uber for $30 one way , got there at 3:25pm, I was not allowed to go in to speak to anyone because according to officer at door, the workers needs to be out of the building by 4:00pm. So I got no one to assist me , this is not the way things should be done.

Been trying to contact them over a week especially after they accidentally closed my case assuming I was someone else because another person in the office put a different client information underneath my case now every time I'm calling it's ringing and ringing and going straight to voicemail every since these new updates you can't even reach no one on the phone which is very crazy because how are we even supposed to get help what's the point of even having a phone when no one's going to answer I left several voicemails and emails and still I'm trying everyday and no response

They are RUDE and CRUDE! I called on the phone about recert my phone number was changed. And i called and all i got was the automated lady. And after the automated service. They sent me a voicemail phone to leave a message and no one calls you back and i sent them a letter too. Union County Social Services is the ABSOLUTE WORST SOCIAL SERVICES in the country.
