Fabulous bookstore! The manager Kate and her knowledgeable staff go out of their way to accommodate the needs of their customers, and make book suggestions. The store has a great website to order from and also hosts many wonderful author events where customers can hear authors talk about their craft and personalize books for attendees. The store hosts events for children, as well as a book club for those lucky to live locally. I live in Bergen county, but travel the 90 miles to experience this store and all it offers. Please note that the store is completing a major renovation and moving into a larger space so it can serve the reading and writing community even better. If you are planning a visit, check with the store to make sure your needs can be accommodated.

I’ve been coming to this book shop for years! Always a pleasant experience, great staff and excellent selections. And if they don’t have something you’re looking for, Kate will order it for you and it comes quick! My little ones also love coming to storytime and look forward to it every week. We appreciate continuing these weekly events (and more) even during construction! We can’t wait for the new store to be open!

Shoutout to Kate for always keeping my TBR well fed, even while the store is moving down the street! She was able to order my requested book and set it aside at Barefoot Athleisure within a matter of days! The Thunderroad Books community is one I am always happy to be a part of!

Such a nice bookshop! I went for a writing workshop and connected with lovely people and heard stories and exchanged ideas. The staff was friendly and helpful and the store has so many book gems!

Amazing experience at Thunder Road books on Small Business Saturday. It's so refreshing to visit a legitimate mom & pop bookstore. The service was incredibly personal and the whole staff's passion for books was so clearly evident. The store itself is very intimate and beautifully designed. They have a great staff recommendation list which was excellent to use for Christmas gifts and they were super helpful when I inquired about a hard to find book I was interested in. The owner himself got involved with the search! They could not have been any more polite and hospitable. The small size and personal touches are what makes this local business one I will visit again and recommend to others. Bonus points for all the great Danny Clinch photos on the walls!!!

Thunder Road Books is a great bookstore right on the main street of Spring Lake. They have several places to read on site including inside and outside. Grab a coffee nearby and settle in to read your new book. Kate is really helpful and will give you great recommendations!
