The Shoppes At Lafayette - Lafayette Township, New Jersey

Cute little shopping area with many artsy type boutiques and self care places like salons, yoga and spas. Farmers market some days during the year. Very quiet during the week with many stores closed by 5pm. A lot of empty storefronts, but beautiful place to go for a walk and get your steps in. Public restrooms located in the center of the Shoppes near the main office were heated and well maintained.

My sister and I had lunch at the Lafayette House restaurant and it was a nice quiet lunch and a place to talk and catch up. My sister and I both had the French Dip and it was great, the gravy was plentiful and very tasty. The star of the plate were the French fries, very crisp and different in a real good way.
I have been going to the Lafayette village complex for many years and it was sad how many store are vacant. It was once a bustling village of wonderful eclectic stores. Now just a handful remain. It is still a lovely place to walk and talk and have lunch.

Always a nice day to stroll through the shoppes. This weekend was garlic fest and it did not disappoint. Yummy samples from some great local farms and vendors.
Only issue ever is the parking ( or lack of)

It is great that more fitness services are moving into The Shoppes. Management should really post Pilates, Yoga, Ninja etc on the Route 15 signage! CBD is prominently promoted, but not FITNESS! It would benefit many more businesses!

Update Oct. 2020. The new owner have done a nice job. Parking lot was fixed. A number of store are open. There now seem to be crafts at certain times. Bathroom area is open. The virus has not helped any brick and motor stores. Happen to drive to those other "craft" and antique stores just a mile away. They are still open.

Only a couple of stores still open, the restaurant is still going strong. Yellow tape all over the place, new owner sign, the buildings are worn. Maybe the new owner will bring back this place. We were up here many, many years ago and every building was open. Outlets are all over the place and even the huge Flemington, NJ outlets are having trouble keeping stores open.

The shoppes have been around forever, but there was a long time when it was a ghost town. It seems like new life is being breathed into it, but it still needs some big advertising. I go there for Nemesis Comics and that was a huge gain to increase traffic to the complex.

The owners are trying hard to bring this village back to what it once was. They're filling up the stores and bringing customers back. The grounds are well kept, and they have new stores opening every month.
