I've been looking forward to trying this place and it did not disappoint! I love soft serve, I had the ube milk swirl. The taiyaki was delicious, I've been so excited to try one 🙂 it's crispy on the outside and the custard filling complemented it really well. You also get to pick two toppings for no extra charge, I had sprinkles and graham crackers crumbs. Very fun ice cream shop! The location in the mall food court isn't the ideal ambiance but it was a really nice treat after a day of hiking!

We truly enjoyed our taiyaki cones, delicious! One vanilla and one chocolate, both with custard and sprinkles. It was a good serving of ice cream and a tasty treat, too. The waffle cones are fish shaped and so very yummy with the custard. We really enjoyed the ice cream. I highly recommend Softer for an ice cream treat!

The taiyaki waffles are delicious! I recommend the oreo flavor. The service is also very good. The workers are so nice. It seemed like such a busy day but they did so well. The store is also spotless clean.

The Milk and Ube soft serve I will say is absolutely amazing, if you are unfamiliar with Ube, it is popular down in the Philippines and kind of looks like a purple sweet potato in its raw form. But it is used in sweets along with breads and other things.
This soft serve was amazing, the milk flavor melded well with the ube flavor in this smooth creamy symphony of flavor. I really do not have a good way to describe it in so few words.

They were nice enough to give me a Taiyaki cone to enjoy with it as well, I put some of the soft serve in it but honestly it made a little bit of a mess. Still, it was not bad, the open mouth Taiyaki did not have a lot of flavorstoo it, was rather soft instead of crunchy like you would expect from an ice cream cone.

Now the filled taiyaki was enjoyable, it was crispy outside and almost donut like inside it felt like. The bean paste filling was sweet but not overpowering, I could have eaten a lot more of those, not too big either but they sell them in packs of two or four making it easy to just eat a couple of them.

The person working there was quick even with how busy they were, I did see someone get one of their snow bowls and just wow. That was pretty big looking, would say it is not something a person would eat by themselves but hey, if you got someone to share it with that enjoy that kind of things it looked worth it.

Rating

Soft serve 10/10 (There are places with amazing soft serve in town and this stands at their level.)
Taiyaki cone 5/10 (Was a fun novelty but leaky and not a lot of flavor)
bean paste Taiyak 8/10 (Could eat a lot more of these fishies)
Service 8/10 (Was attentive and quick, not much more I could ask for in the location)

Whoever owns, manages this location is ludicrous. The Dimond Center lower level is packed. There are at least a couple hundred in food court. Most assuredly more people, especially children. With additional people arriving constantly.

Why is Softer desolate. Because someone made the executive decision to not sell their signature fish waffle cones with ice cream. Instead they are only selling waffles with filling the young girl at register informed us. Here we all are, customers, ready to purchase the menu item advertised all over the mall. Although ingredients are available They are only being sold separately (Waffle with filling/ice cream in cup).

Greedy, lousy, busy practice. We won't be returning. This directive also lost the store an opportunity to introduce their products to hundreds of people who won't have a good first impression either.

When softer first came to our Anchorage Diamond Mall I thought to myself "Why another ice cream place here? We already have gelato and baskin robins". My expectation were kind of high but that was until I tried their icecream for the first time.

I had the Taiyaki with their matcha soft-serve and it was amazing. I will say getting the cone right side up can become very messy, but I can't help but getting it every time.

Now in my opinion I get their ube soft-serve everytime I go to the diamond mall, whether it be in a taiyaki cone, cold-brew, or milkshake.

The taiyaki here was super crunchy, kinda like biting into the waffle. You get to pick your own ice cream flavor, what goes inside the taiyaki, and top it off with your choice of topping!

Went for the matcha ice cream filled with ube paste, it was spot on—a perfect combo for just 7 bucks. We all agreed it’s totally worth it. Yum yummmmmmm

Took us a while to find the food court but once we did, we were able to get our ice cream treat ordered! We went with what sounded familiar (a Nutella Tayaki with milk soft serve and Oreo crumbles) and it was really good! The employee kindly answered my questions about the other ingredient choices.
