I'm a college student searching for a place to live and have been in touch with this agency for about a month now, trying to secure a rental. I've been calling them every day, trying to complete everything they ask so I can move in on time for the school year. I live a few hours from Susanville and drove up there to view the rental because apparently, it's mandatory. We were informed in the office that we were accepted, so the next morning I called and paid the application fee over the phone. The day after I paid the $70 fee for two applications, I called to confirm if everything was finally clear and good to go. Then I was told that the rental was no longer available! I want to say that the communication with this agency is terrible. One person would tell me one thing, and then someone else would tell me something completely different. They just wanted our money, and I'm 90% convinced these people are scammers after what I experienced. I do not recommend this rental agency to anyone who doesn't want their time or money wasted. I would give this company zero stars if I could! 😡

first of all, when we moved into the house the yard hadn’t been done and the yard was all dirt, weeds, and goat heads. we were told the house was cleaned before we moved in but it was so dirty, especially the kitchen and walls. we move in the front door deadbolt is broken which we were not told about before hand so we had to fix that. our lease stated owner would pay for sewage and water, just for them to charge us for water 2 months in and be unresponsive as to why they were charging us. finally was told it was due to our stove being gas, which was electric and that was also started in the lease and on the ad for the house. they go months without charging it after i called it out, closer to the end of our lease they start doing again so i call them up and they say its my stove then the drier (which was broken when we moved in so we never used) and i tell them both those things are electric and one was never used they say they’re gonna go “investigate” it on their end and never call me back. continue to charge for it till a couple months later i call back and they say it was my water heater.

in the winter our shower in our one bath, quit working, takes about a week to get a plumber out to fix it. he can’t fix it due to the way the tub was jerryrigged on the floor and he was to order a special part for it so he tears the tub out and leaves it till he gets the part, which was all fine. but when he pulled the tub out you could see the floor was rotted squishy and moldy and had also just told us all the things out of code in the bathroom. we call sdp and just to get yelled at, for them to call the plumber to yell at him about how he cannot tell us what’s going on or “wrong” with our rental because we didn’t have the right to know, something around those lines. he leaves to order the parts and we’re without a shower for the entire month and having to deal with the rotted floor and mold that was getting worse. i get on them about this and they send out their maintenance man “contractor” who just goes below the house and comes back up and started to tell us that it was bad then stopped himself saying he can’t say anything and to have a good day and left, was there under a total of 5 minutes. later receive a text saying it was cosmetic but they’d get someone to fix it. never did (: the mold got 10x worse over the duration of our lease.

moved out and left the yard and house in cleaner condition than they gave it to us in, they charged us for cleaning fees and yard maintenance fees. charged 1150 to replace a window that wasn’t broken by us, just to replace it with the same type of single pane window which doesn’t cost that much to replace 1 single window (: and also charged us for taking down and removing curtains and curtain rods that were there when we moved in, so we left as they weren’t ours. none of that is that important, but what is important is that they left us pregnant without a working shower and torn apart bathroom for a whole month in the winter and never cared to fixed a MAJOR major health and safety concern of a rotted unstable floor and moldy bathroom. and upped the rent when we moved out without fixing it.

I travel a lot for work and all I can say is that has been the worst experience ever . I moved into a place on cypress st in Susanville for 3 weeks. The place was dirty and not clean and i had to spend hours washing the floors and bathroom. . When i moved out , I left the place in pristine condition. Much better than when i moved in. I was charged a 200 dollar cleaning fee .They will steal your deposit , do think twice about dealing with this company. Kiana was very unresponsive to my emails and basically ignored them . I eventually spoke to melanie Westbrook who was even worse. . She threatened me with legal action because i refused to pay them for the bogus cleaning charges. Stay away from these crooks !

I wrote an offer on one of Dawn Meyers Reo's she had listed. She made it clear how upset she was that i didnt let her write the offer. She said "Im an agent and i write offers on my properties". I guess she wanted a double commision. She then told me that she didnt have to submit the offer, completely illegal and unethical. After a few weeks of hearing nothing back from Dawn, i wrote the property off. I spoke to her broker Melanie about her behavior. There was never a call back nor an apology. It would seem to me that these people are there to make their pockets fat and they have no ethics toward their cliemts or anyone else.

Melanie Westbrook and her staff go above and beyond to ensure that all aspects of the home buying process go smoothly. Where do I start. I wish anyone who wants to buy or sell their home could experience the wonderful, helpful and professional service we had. Knowledgeable, pleasant and confident all the way through the process of purchasing our home from listing, offer and then closing. I personally thank Melanie for making this happen for all parties involved. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Sierra Desert Properties as your choice of Realtors to sell or buy your home over any other Real Estate Company around.

Terrible illegally added a water bill to my online portal after i proved to them it wasnt my responsibility said the water company . Put in multiple worlk orders to be ignored. EXTREMELY unprofessional staff that get belligerent to any forms of accusation. called them out on their mistakes so they threatened to evict me even after accepting rent. mind you all my bills are always paid with video evidence. It has gotten to the point I've had to hire a P.I to get the owners contact information if I could contact them directly.
I would put negative starts I could. Worst reality-based company in all of Lassen County.
