An astoundingly beautiful mall, located innocuously on Market St. in the middle of downtown SF. There’s a couple dozen stores left open inside the stunning building and a food court.

If you can make your way up to the top floors, you can enjoy the beauty of the building’s dome and an abandoned (closed) movie theater entrance.

Located near the ‘zombie area’ of town, unfortunately this lovely mall has been majorly affected by constant shop lifting and most of the retail spaces are vacant. It feels like ghost town. No clients and several security roaming the space to prevent further loss to the few retailers still open.

The place is nice, but parking in the heart of SF is a hassle, requiring a paid multilevel parking garage. The mall feels a bit empty with limited shops, and the closure of the movie theater has left a void, affecting the overall vibe. Most of the stores focus on clothes and food, but the architecture is stunning, with plenty of seating and an expansive layout. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t many shops to explore. Still, I’d recommend visiting, even if just for a quick stop. The food choices are limited, and due to the surrounding area, many stores have their own security guards but don’t worry, it’s safe inside.

Shop Dine SF Holiday Pop-Up Dec 5-7, 2024. A handful of local maker booths at the top level with live band playing. Rest of the mall was relatively empty during that Saturday weekend.

San Francisco Center is a fantastic place to visit during the day, especially before 4 PM. For the best experience, I’d recommend staying on Market Street between Fourth Street and the Ferry Building. Currently, it’s best to avoid going past Fifth Street. Staying within this area will keep you in the heart of the city’s vibrant and lively atmosphere while ensuring a comfortable and safe visit.

A beautiful shopping mall, including the curved escalators and links straight into Bloomingdale. Sadly, there are so many empty units.
But there is Zara, Lulu Lemon, H&M, Footlocker and Rayban so still worth a visit.
