I was a little embarrassed to ask for help, but after my SNAP didn't come through on time, I swallowed my pride and went to the food bank of the Salvation Army. A little wait is totally worth it! You will not believe what people donate to them and they give away, so nobody gets hungry. The helpers at the Salvation Army must have a seventh sense, because they gave away a great variety of food essentials and treats. I recommend going once a months for low income individuals. Bring ID and income proof.
By the way there is an Emergency program even if you a little over the poverty limit. SNAP income limit are getting adjusted, so go get SNAP now and qualify for the food bank at the Salvation Army!
The government took away the ability to give meat products to the food bank, ergo you will not get any! The Salvation Army is working on it, but it will take some time. Don't be discouraged by that, because it's still worth it to come for the other items.😔

The prices are outrageous. I saw a VCR from the 1990s with a sticker price tag of $99.99. the prices are crazy high. The books on the other hand were $2 for hardback. Not too bad. They had a lot of stuff, but too bad it will all go in the landfill because no one is paying those prices. We go there to save money. Most ppl who go there are "minimum wage earners" meaning they don't have that much to spare, and this place is taking advantage of the shoppers. I understand the proceeds go to a good cause, but my God, $100 for a 40 year old VCR is not just outrageous, but dumb!
