The new kid working there was AMAZING, much better than his older man counter part, who gave me an attitude about every question I had and treated me like I was stupid. He should NOT be allowed to be in there. If you're going to volunteer, you ought to be HAPPY about it.

I first visited Rise Thrift in April 2022 (confirmed by staff). I have never had a disappointing experience. Fortunately Rise donations are top tier and their prices are equally so. I LOVE THIS PLACE AND ALL THE FOLKS that work there. It’s a small space jam packed with wonderful finds. Undoubtedly, I can go in looking for something specific and 9 times out of 10 I find what I am looking for. They have a large selection of jewelry which I love combing through, some of my favorite pieces have come Rise. I’ve also had the chance to pick up some great handbags there as well, again priced fairly. I spend a few hours when I shop there as I am not local and always have the best time. YOU WON’T be disappointed finding this gem in the heart of downtown Hightstown.

Pay with cash!

They charge service fee when plastic is used and they DO NOT TELL YOU ABOUT IT. No sign at register or on entry door.

Thin man who runs register is impatient, not friendly at all. Got miffed when I asked for a paper receipt.

12/1 UPDATE: I revisited the store - if there is a sign I suggest it be placed more in an "in your face" position with large print/highlighted coloring. I still did not see it.

Great selection of things including clothes, wears, and trinkets! Super friendly staff who are eager to help and answer questions! I got this funny eggplant jar!

Hours say open until 7 but they were turning people away at 6:40 pm tonight February 5 2024. They said they were closed at first and when I said aren’t you open until 7 they said “we’re closing early” The place seems to be run by teenagers (although I realize they are volunteers) but probably needs more of an adult presence/supervision.

I wouldn’t donate here because I see them throwing stuff away almost every time I have been here. Don’t take donations if you don’t have room.

I’ve found a few things here over the years but prices are way too high on most items. They do have a reasonably good incentive program. Lower your prices instead of throwing donations in the dumpster.

Adding I stopped by here on December 17, 2024 and there was only one young man running the register and also doing stuff in the back. while I applaud his multitasking, the whole time, within earshot, he was muttering under his breath about the idiots who dropped stuff off outside on and on like he was hoping I would respond, but I just ignored him and moved to the other end of the store as It made me uncomfortable.

To say that Rise Thrift Store is a well-run, philanthropic operation would be an understatement. Despite existing for an entirely altruistic purpose, the employees who both work and manage this store are exceedingly kind and hardworking. I have visited this store on a weekly basis since moving to Hightstown and have never experienced any employee deviate from the previously described behavior. If this world was populated and/or navigated by individuals who share the principles and work-ethic of the Rise Thrift Store Staff, we would be in a far better position. If you frequent this location, continue coming. If you haven’t done so yet, visit soon.
