Great place to stop to walk across the bridge. The best time to be in the middle of the bridge is when a large truck passes, the whole thing shakes like you are standing on a trampoline! We loved it!

Enjoyed visiting the Rio Grande Gorge it's beautiful and worth the visit. I think there needs to be better access to the bridge we had to use the walking trail but then had to climb over the guard rail to get to the bridge and that's hard for short people, elderly or kids to do. They had vendors where we parked

Great views, but usually pretty crowded. Parking may be an issue. Also, the callboxes on the bridge for jumpers are a little eerie

This little rest stop is a great place to take a breather on a road trip. There are gorgeous views, a nice little hiking trail, solid bathrooms, and there are even occasionally local folks there selling their wares. Do be careful, though. Some of the people selling stuff are happy to take advantage of a tourist that doesn’t know what things are worth.

On top of that, this rest stop is right down the street from a group of earth ships that you can learn about and tour. HIGHLY recommend driving down the road for that.

Definitely stop and walk a bit if you are near. But the gorge and bridge just didn't seem that impressive to me. For hiking and views of the gorge, I enjoyed more the slide trail which goes down to the river and also the nearby hot springs.

Clean bathrooms, water bottle refill station, many picnic tables, and short trail to see the gorge bridge.
Vendors tend to park on one side which takes up some parking, but kinda nice to see what they're selling also.

Yes the views are beautiful but this is about the rest area itself, where they lock the bathrooms at night. πŸ‘Ž It is not so much a rest area as it is a suicide jumper watchtower with security guards

Some absolute idiot decided it's best to lock the doors at night and they have no listed hours. Been driving for hours and was really counting on this as a spot to take a break and use the bathroom.

An outhouse on the side of the road is better then a locked door.

They shouldn't call this a rest area if it's primary purpose isn't to serve as a rest area.
