We've been using Ortega and sons for any 5 years. The only thing we have running on Propane is our heater and we have a wood stove so we really don't even run our heater a ton. We've never used a large amount of Propane but we like to have it to keep the house at a reasonable tempurature when we aren't using the wood stove. At no point since we've been using them have they expressed this is an issue. Not when they have come out to fill the tank, not on the statement for the rental fee of the tank, not when we call to pay the rental fee. Last week my husband called to refill the tank and now they are refusing to come out and refill the tank we're renting from them because they are saying we've had a verbal agreement this entire time to buy 400 gallons of Propane a year and we aren't doing that. Of course it's mid winter and right before the holidays and everyone is busy and we're stuck trying to find a new company to come set us up with a new tank. Super disappointing that after all this time this is the service we're getting.

I would be more understanding if they filled us up this last time and told us we needed to increase our usage or find another company. At least then we'd have Propane to get through the winter and we wouldn't be trying to find a new company to come out over the holidays.

If you're not a heavy Propane user, go somewhere else. They only want to have your business if you're complying to some unknown, made up, verbal, purchase agreement.

A friend recommended them to me and it was with the first and only ones that I went for quotation and then ...Quote $543.5 ( We think 100 more) Reality: $771.24...220 dlls more..wt...I talked to them and they told me that if I did not want them they would come for the tank and the gas, but even so I would have to pay 440 dlls for the work 🙁 , and He (Kevin?) I hope you better give a high quote and do not expect to stay broken when they install other pieces. Well now nothing to do...(only ask to more than one for quotes.)

Switched over from Suburban (PLEASE, even if you don't decide to go with the wonderful people at Ortega, start FAR from Suburban!) and I love the service I've received thus far. Not only have they been ridiculously prompt out to my oddball location in the middle of nowhere, their prices are amazing, their employees are always super helpful and friendly without being overbearing. (I've lit my own water heater pilot a million times and they actually believe me when I tell them I can do it myself instead of trying to insist for "safety" so they can charge an extra fee.) I cannot recommend them enough, making the switch has honestly taken so much stress out of my life.

UPDATE: I've now had the service for a few months and I still have nothing but good things to say. I just called for a refuel and they're literally coming out TODAY. No waiting a week for designated service days like I used to have to do. This is an awesome business with amazing customer service, and I cannot recommend them enough.

I have been with Ortega and sons for many years. Always felt like I had a leak somewhere. They came out and tested the lines but never tested the tank. Finally after spend 800 in 3 weeks I called a plumber who came out right away and tested everything. Found that every valve and cap on the tank itself had been leaking. The plumber said probably for months if not years. They Saud it looks like the tank has never been serviced. I questioned Ortega and they said basically your s out of luck. Horrible that they are stealing money from unexpected people. Make them check your tank folks.
