Amtrak has managed to take a beautiful building & make it sad to be there. Also, wrong information on this stop from Amtrak & Google.

First, they couldn't find a few train pictures or Needles history to put in the waiting room? Just look at it! I've seen hospital waiting rooms with more character, more life.

Correcting bad info: a) There are restrooms, just through two interior doors; b) [edit: FIXED] It is NOT located at BNSF, as listed on GMaps, it is in the El Garces; address is right; c) there is a water drinking fountain; d) street-side doors were all locked during "open" hours, platform-side were unlocked.

The locked street-facing doors were pretty annoying. This means no entry to the waiting-room or platform directly from the park/street side. This is frustrating and makes for a long walk around the building if you had been following the signs (to get in, when facing the entrance you must go left & go all the way around). This means the best pickup/drop-off location is the northwest parking lot. Totally unacceptable for whoever runs the building (if the magnetic time-lock is broken, fix it! or put up corrected signs! don't just lock people out!).

On the platform-side of the station the doors were unlocked. It was well-lit. The fountain has been drained and the environment lacks the character you'd expect from an old building with some rich history.

4 benches in the waiting room with restrooms & water fountains down the hallway (these doors were closed & without power-open button). That is it, though. No other services or amenities, it's sparse.

With no pay phones or power outlets, you better have a well-charged phone to check for how delayed your train is. The Southwest Chief 3, westbound to LA is notoriously late; instead of 12:26am you could be there waiting for hours with no departure board or other updates provided in the waiting room.

Certainly better than sitting outside with no restrooms but I'm just surprised at the lack of follow-through to add those finishing human touches that could make this place feel comfortable and historic instead of institutional and cold.

Station is outdoors only it seems. Lots of sketchy people (including full shopping carts, a person using the waiting area as a restroom in full view of everyone, people bumming cigarettes) waiting around. Train was delayed both ways, the first over 1 and a half hours. Today there is a stuck train on the track, preventing Amtrak from arriving.

The station itself is cool to look at however it is locked and not a soul around that works there. Where you board the train is a joke from the parking lot for a handicap person so we drove down the side walk and gravel area to get our friend near where the train boards. As it turned out her train was 3 hrs late and it was so hot and humid out. I was not impressed.

My experience was anything but pleasant. It was a scene out of a scary movie. The whole inside place was an absolute disaster. Food every where. Someone from a wedding party had left their trash all over. Alcohol bottles every where. Homeless people causing a ruckus. Lack of security. Well, there was no security. An absolute disgusting place and you guys who live there should be ashamed. Do better! If I wanted to be in the shining, I'd have tried out for the part!

Poorly marked parking lot, and I kept guessing where I needed to go to board the train ... get here early enough to wander around the place until you find it yourself because there is no staff around to help you . Very cool building with a waiting room and usable restrooms. Basic with no vending machines or comforts

Amtrak supposed to be in Needles @ 12:16 AM. It is now 1:25AM still no Amtrak. It would be nice is there was a reader board that identifies departure and CORRECTED estimated time of arrival. This is terrible service. Had to sit in car in 104 degree temperatures. This is disgusting.

A nice place to see up close real trains. BSNF is a working freight commercial train station. The hotel area has the passenger AMTRAK facilities.
