Breakfast sandwich
• if you order this, ask for some kind of sauce or jam. The sandwich itself if quite dry. Also - think of your smallest English muffin: that is the size of it. I thought that the hashbrown sides would make up for the serving size of the sandwich but they’re also not too large.
Overall the sandwich was great with some jam I stole from my friend. The hashbrowns were awesome. The portion size however let me down.

Parking:
Busy parking lot but you’ll likely be able to get parking within. If not: plenty of street parking.

Ambiance:
Really cute breakfast nook vibes.

Good place to go only for couples. If you have a company of 3 and more be prepared to wait for at least an hour. All groups of people (less than your group)who will show up after you will be seated earlier than you and you will watch them leave after they will be done with their food. Doesn’t make any sense to me but whatever. Food is ok, nothing spectacular, some of ingredients in our food was over ripe like avocado (but they tried to hide it in the middle of omelette so we won’t see it… prices are pretty high. At 10 am on Sunday they were out of 2 bread types a bit weird for breakfast place to be out of breakfast ingredients… Unfortunately our waiter also forgot about cinnamon roll, but at least he asked if he can remove it from a bill.
I don’t think I will come back here if we have more than 2 people.

W O W. I am thoroughly so happy and impressed with Mama Kat’s! They really take care of the little things here. We were greeted with water or coffee while we waited for our table. My partner ordered from the plant based menu and got the plant-based skillet with tortillas, jackfruit hash instead of beans & a side order of hash browns. He was super impressed and thought it was delicious. I ordered the Lilly-Billy, and what I loved was when I asked our server to tell us more about it, he said I’ll have her come up and tell you. Yes, Lilly herself came up to me to tell me about the dish, which was put on there because of her! I love it when there’s truly heart & spirit to a business. The jackfruit hash is AMAZING, the potatoes are seasoned and made to perfection, and the gravy is so good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It was something I would have never expected to get and it was SO delicious. There is such a family vibe to this place and you can feel it from the warmth of their staff + the energy in their food which is filled with so much love and care. Normally what I would have considered a heavy meal, instead had me feeling satiated, content, and just happy! Our server Nick was such a gem, super patient, genuine and courteous. Plus, the food was so good it did not need any extra condiments. We’re stoked to come back again and bring our friends and family!

I ordered an egg white omelette with jalapeños,turkey sausage, pepper jack cheese, spinach and chopped tomatoes with extra crispy hash brown and coffee and sourdough toast. My companion had waffles which didn’t last long either. Old fashioned cute decor, service was good. I was glad we got there early because walking out at 8:30AM there was a line waiting to be seated. The add on’s add up though my omelette was $26. However, everything was delicious!!!

Was in the area visiting our daughter and Googled breakfast spots. Landed at Mama Kats and so happy we did! We were seated prior to the “rush” and received our food quickly. I had the corned beef hash and my spouse had the Benedict. Both plates were excellent and I haven’t had rye toast in forever. The regular coffee was nice and bold and the service was great. Now we know where to go when in San Marcos!

Stumbled across this dining establishment while running errands w/wifey one Saturday. Very popular spot and had a wait of 20 mins at approximately 1145 am. Was greeted by the hostess who came outside and got us, no calling your name and herding you in. Wifey had the eggs/french toast, while I got the al a cart of 3 eggs over, sausage links, hashbrowns and sour dough toast, because what I wanted was sold out. Food was cooked how I like it - whites of the eggs cooked and hashbrowns crispy, without asking for it. French toast was great, b'cuz I tend to finish wifey's as well. Large by huge portions, service is exceptional, food was great. And now I know to get here earlier so I can get in on the "chicken fried chicken" which is so popular it sells out. We'll definitely add this to our bfast rotation. And if you're in the area or passing by, drop in you won't be disappointed.

Great all around spot to get breakfast. Cozy atmosphere and everyone I went with loved their selections. I was surprised to see that there was a tiny gift shop towards the back of the cafe and succulents for sale in the outdoor dining area. A couple of things to note, if you try to eat there between 9 and 11 there will be a LONG wait, possibly over an hour. Also some (but not all) of the food options are a tad pricey. Either way I'm sure we'll be back for more.

This restaurant is busy ALL OF THE TIME! When we arrived, there was a 30-40 min. wait for 4 of us. We waited over an hour. The food was good, although the eggs on my eggs benedict were cooked too much. With that said, it was delicious tasting and everyone else at the table enjoyed their meal. The service was outstanding. There really is not much of an atmosphere. Just a family restaurant with old tables and some booths. The menu for breakfast is huge, so you'll definitely be able to find something you like. We would go back when we're in the area and we definitely recommend. TIP: they take reservations, so I would definitely call before you go!
