It's a little hard to find but fascinating. Regardless of how you feel about him, the places historic people lived in are so interesting. The people in charge are trying hard to keep it preserved. I was surprised his grave and the house were not marked more clearly.

The house, grounds and artifacts are a well done. The video stops before the story gets more complicated. It was helpful to read Wikipedia before entering to get a more complete view of this key participant in a very complicated (and horrific) period in our history. It made me want to understand the time better from different perspectives. The host allowed us to enter near closing and didn’t rush us to leave. He was great.

Was in Taos for a quick business trip with my bf and our dog. Was looking for dog friendly places to check out. Make the most of our trip to Taos. The museum, video on Kit Carson and guy in the gift shop were all really pleasant. Was happy it is dog friendly. The guy even had dog biscuits for him. If in the area, would definitely check it out.

We love history and enjoy museums in towns we travel. There was no wait to begin the self tour. The introductory movie created by the History Channel was informative. We enjoyed walking through the home and looking at the artifacts. They are trying to preserve the property but in need of some cleaning and upkeep of the courtyard and house. The information was great and we are looking into documentaries and movies about Kit Carson.

Great little museum for those that enjoy the history of the American West. Guests can start with a 20 minute video about Kit Carson, which is played by his great grandson. You can then tour the museum and see some of the artifacts from his life. The museum curator also pointed out that he and his family were buried just a couple of blocks away and directed us to the cemetery.

Great into movie from the History Channel.

Wonderful place to learn the history of Kit Carson. The owner checks you in and has great information about the Carson family. The bathroom was clean, there's a great film to watch across from the house. Recommend to visit and learn about Kit Carson my distance relative.
