I just completed my second X6A hunt with Honey Lake Guide Service in 6 years. My first hunt in 2016 resulted in a 29 inch 3x3 and in 2021 after drawing the tag for the second time my first call was to Jeff, to rebook. This year was no different Jeff, and Charlie, worked their tail off to find the level of bucks my buddy and myself were after. Hunting was tough with the mature bucks educated due to being late in the season and the current moon phase but that did not stop Jeff, and Charlie, these guys can grind and grind they did! I ended up taking my second X6A buck a 27 and 1/2 inch monster 3 point! My buddy hunted till the end of our hunt passing many bucks but solely focused on a mature 4x4 he saw the first day. Although he did not connect on that buck he did have several opportunities. If you draw an X zone tag do yourself a favor and call Jeff, no one will work harder to ensure the hunt you waited so long for is a success.

I called and spoke with one of the staff about purchasing a new Henry’s rifle. After providing my information I was told that they could obtain the gun and he would get back to me the next day with pricing and availability. Never heard from them again. Do yourself a favor and go to a more reputable and less expensive dealer like Sportsman Warehouse. It’s well worth the drive to Chico or Redding for professional service and significant savings. These guys don’t have time for the little guy.

I've purchased firearms at both current gun stores in susanville as well as at locations now closed in town, and Honey Lake Firearms is the only gun store among any of these that actually feels like you're in a local store.

Prices are lower than any surrounding area gunstore (even in Reno...), availability is just as good as any chain store, and used guns are actually priced reasonably. During the covid "pandemic", prices did not surge ridiculously with the rest of the gun world, and during today's period of scarcity with reloading components like powder and primers prices are very competitive compared even to online mega - retailers like MidwayUSA or Midsouth.

Students going through the Lassen Gunsmithing program are expected to have several firearms, and it's normal to transfer many used firearms into the state from online sales. Honey Lake helps students get the best prices on new and used firearms and firearms transfers, which at other stores can run as much as and usually do start at 100 dollars, before paying any sales tax due, shipping costs, CA state paperwork, etc.

TL:DR; good to work with, buy from, consign with, and visit with.
