If you live in rural areas, far from the nearest large town, you'll appreciate a store like High Country Mercantile. It's a gas station oasis in the middle of a food desert. It's a long drive to the next station and even longer drive to the next store that has all the daily needs you might want in the interim until you visit the big city and go shopping.

Open 7 days a week, the store has an amazing selection of everything: food, paper goods, camp supplies, beer/wine/liquor, and an ATM. It also has clean restrooms that indicates the owner's dedication to public service of the old-school variety. It's not just a mini-mart out for profit where no one really cares about the customer.

The young folks that work behind the counter are also high caliber - friendly to the nth degree. Man, where did they get such nice helpers? I know plenty of other stores, in many towns, that are desperate for employees like this and would pay handsomely to find some.

Thanks High Country Mercantile for continuing to be a refreshing and honest highway stop.

Cleanest, cutest, and best smelling bathrooms have any convenient store I’ve ever been in! She offers shopper a panoply selection of snacks, drinks, and other boutique items. I will definitely make it a point to give them my business for any travels in the future. Love it.

Worst customer service experience ever, I came in to purchase some popsicles for my friend and her autistic daughter. During my interaction she did not speak to me at all (she was having a personal conversation with a customer) other than to tell me my total. She didn’t even offer me a receipt either, just tossed it. I unfortunately got the wrong flavor for my friends daughter not knowing she wouldn’t eat purple. I came back inside with the un opened popsicle about one minute after purchasing it. I asked if I could just replace the popsicle that I got, as I got the wrong flavor. She replied with “you have already walked out with it” I said I know but I just got the wrong flavor and it isn’t opened yet to which she replied with “well isn’t that a sad story”. I don’t know if she treated me like this because I am very obviously an out of towner or what but I did not appreciate it at all and she should really be held accountable for this.
