I recently visited and had the pleasure of being assisted by Andrew, who had just started in his role. Despite a long line of customers and a very busy environment, Andrew remained incredibly nice, respectful, and attentive. He went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. Andrew’s professionalism stood out. I look forward to seeing him excel in his role! In fact, if Andrew needs a letter of recommendation for a new job let me know!

Anchorange, Alaska is breathtakingly beautiful, with its snow-capped mountains and Guitar Center. Did I mention that I purchased a snare drum three hours after landing? Well, I purchased a used OCDP 14x8 Steel Snare ?. Turns out the store manager, Jamie R, is from California, and we have mutual friends in common.

Appreciation to Jamie, Guitar Center store manager in Anchorage, Alaska.

I stopped in for the first time the other day and was shocked at the size of the store and the incredible inventory. The staff were all picking away at some instrument or another and they were extremely helpful … which was good as I know nothing about anything related to audio equipment and I left feeling like I had just received a private tutorial. Speaking of which, I was surprised to see their instruction center, with several local, accomplished musicians available to teach all levels of students. They also had a repair center available, which was good to learn. For those who podcast or webcast, they have a great assortment of tech products to make your life easier or to help you up your game. If you are just starting, it looked like they had instrument rental available too. There are several small music shops that I love in town, and I always say buy and shop local. With that said, the inventory here, especially where percussion items, guitars, keyboards and microphones were concerned, was incredible. No need to order online.

First of all what an great inventory and beautiful store. Amazing selections of basses, guitars, drums, recording software, and everything in between. Came here looking for a bass and new drum set and was greeted by multiple friendly faces looking to help! Chris was a particularly amazing staff member, helping delineate between brands and qualities for my skill level, exceptional team and store.

Although I did enjoy visiting Guitar Center. Staff has always been respectful and welcoming , I had a bad experience with one of their guitar tech while back. I purchased a Square classic vibe, had them gut everything out all the hardware inside and replace it with Fender fat 50s Custom Shop pickups and brand new 5-way Switch and CTS pots. He did but ....He did not wire the guitar correctly or even to spec. Months go by and I finally talked to another tech and he told me to bring it in and he'll correct it for no charge, he also had some animosity about the tech that did the work on my guitar. Another couple months go by and I finally have time to drop it off with receipt in Hand and all the work that's been done, explain to them what my situation was and they wanted to charge me again for the correction.
Needless to say I'll be taking my business elsewhere, it sucks because I really did enjoy going to Guitar Center. It was a very welcoming place.
Pete's violin shop and Mammoth music took care of me right away.

Why is the tech part time? And don’t want to bad mouth the guy because he could be filling in temporarily and this isn’t about him if that’s the case. But my neck is still not straight and still has fret buzz, and you need to have the strings wrap around the tuners at least once to have any tuning stability, these are simple things I should’ve done myself but it’s an expensive guitar and I wanted to leave it to a “pro.” Raise the pay to find a tech you can keep full time, newsflash, this company makes millions a day, you guys should have the best tech in the state but probably don’t want to pay them enough. Just realized he didn’t even stretch the strings too, what are we doing guys, throw some money at the problem and figure it out…

I went in to guitar center to trade in my Kramer Baretta for in store credit only to wait for 45 minutes, just for them to tell me “The serial number on this is coming back as a Baretta special” Which is the cheap $180 version of my $800 guitar. The Baretta special doesn’t have a locking nut, Floyd rose 1000 or the JB pickups. And the cherry on top is the specials don’t even come in bumble yellow. (Which is the color of my Baretta.) Plus every time I’ve gone there the staff is extremely dismissive of customers and it’s not just me, I see them blatantly ignore people every time I go in there. I’ll be supporting local shops from now on.

stopped by the Guitar Center with my grandson to get him a lap steel guitar. They had a couple new ones in stock and a used one which turned out to be the one we got . The clerk fixed us up with all the accessories we needed. it's a bright, large, well stocked music store for guitars, keyboards, amplifiers and drum kits. Over the years I've gotten a lot of equipment for my band Bytet almost all of it online but it was fun shopping local for a change.
