A lake oasis in the middle of the desert? Yes- and the beauty of this place is hard to describe. I walked along the shoreline and was glad I got to see different parts of the lake because it has very different views depending on where you are. Make sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket and maybe a picnic because you are going to want to stay a while and soak it all in. Entry was $10 for out of state and well worth it.

I visited here two years ago for a few hours and truly enjoyed my time here, but when I came back to primitive camp, I was not ver happy. There is a community near the camping sites, and I heard dogs barking all night. They next morning near the trail head where the dumpsters are a man with no shirt and an old van was going through the dumpster. I would recommend this place for solo primitive campers, especially females. The park just seems open to anyone. I never saw the park ranger until I was back on the pavement roads, putting air in my tires. I'm sure assign campsites are a much better experience. I leave after one night and camped elsewhere for a week.

We had such a great weekend here! I would say the only negative was some of the people. They take up A LOT of space and don't really let you sit by the water. It was just me and 2 of my boys. One small umbrella and a cooler. On the bright side....some other people saw what was happening and not only did they not mind us sitting next to them but they offered us food and more shade. I was incredibly humbled! The water was warm, and my boys truly truly enjoyed themselves.

I didn't actually go out on the water. I camped at Quail Run on top of the hill. There's a good view from the hill and you can catch glimpses of the water. Had a really nice pull- through campsite that was well maintained with electric and water for $18. There were bathrooms throughout the park. I passed some tent sites that had overhead shelter and an upfront view of the lake.

Well maintained park. Nice lake. Marina with boat rentals. Fishing if you like. Lots of walking through the bush and dirt roads. Campsites are elevated by the terrain and offer overviews of the lake. Town is close by with a variety of dining and other places of interest.
