Since they're turning it into a warehouse, where did all the shops go that were in there? Except for Rack Room Shoes, which hasn't moved yet and are still open for business as of 10/11/24. Really is a waste and a shame. It's nice to have everything in one building and not have to drive all over
to multiple stores. They want to compete with Cookeville but don't maintain the integrity of the only "mall" in the county? Bring back the old Crossville, it's lost its small-town charm and my husband misses his hometown. I've only been here 11.5 years, and it's vastly different from then. The wages haven't grown with the growth and with all the new housing popping up on every bit of land for sale, rent is unaffordable for minimum-wage workers, the very people who built this county! You want the big bucks the retirees and transplants can bring while pushing out the families that have been here for generations. Our newlywed daughter has to live at home because the wait list for affordable housing is well over a year. They can't afford to live in their hometown!!!! Cumberland County has gotten too big for its britches.

We went for the model train exhibit. It was awesome. These models are staggering cool. Some of the builders were there and talked about their layout. Highly recommend if you have children or are a model train enthusiast. We loved them and we're not really "enthusiasts".

The Crossville Outlet Center is what appears to have been a brick and mortar mall that is wrestling with staying open for smaller businesses and outlet centers. However, there is a hidden gem inside. The Train display. We spent an hour walking around and probably missed a ton of great details. All the gentlemen attending to the display were so friendly and offered a ton of information about this incredible display. There are 5 scales of trains running and so much to see. At one point they hollered out "going to night". All the lights go out and a whole new view of the trains and buildings are revealed. A must see if you are in the area.

I moved to Crossville about two years ago and there were a number of businesses that were doing well in this mall.
The model train place was amazing with several model train track layouts of varying scale. They also sold trains, kits and structures for townscapes, switches, lights, and pretty much anything else you would need to construct your own system at home. They operated on donations and had schools and children’s field trips.
Abuela’s Cuban restaurant was one of my favorite places to eat in town. They had just started to have a Sunday brunch that was amazing!
There was a thriving hair salon and a number of clothing, shoe, and variety stores.
I was told by one of the merchants that they all were being forced to close or move to a new location. Most closed. Abuela’s started a food truck but of course they don’t have any of their entrees, but their sandwiches are great.
I was never told what the reason for the closure or what they planned to do with the building. There doesn’t appear to be any business open to the public there now.
Many jobs were lost due to this unfortunate situation as well as the revenue created for the government.

The center has only a few remaining stores but at the north west wing there is a model train exhibit that has been displayed for the last 20 years and it is so interesting! They have many different scales on exhibit and placards defining each one. There are members on hand to operate each exhibit and offer a wealth of information pertaining to the construction and detail. There were several exhibits from railroad retirees in the back of the building and everything was organized neatly and well displayed. There is no admission but the members rxplained the need for donations as the rent and insurance is very costly. A vety enjoyable experience!

This place used to be the best hangout spot in Crossville, and it's truly sad that it's being cleared out. They still have a Rack Room Shoes, which is nice, but I'm sure it'll be gone soon.

Our poor little mall is slowly closing stores a little at a time. Though, the ones that are still there are pretty good. VF Outlet is good for clothes, they have an awesome kitchen store, a really cool niche gaming store for the cool nerds like me, a couple of food choices...and the coolest hobby train exhibit you will see anywhere around. Also, comes with a modern church. Haha.
Stop by and take a random peek. I'm sure you can find something there. Worth the stop anyhow. Pics are from the train exhibit and halls within!

Rack Room Shoes Rawks Hard!!! Love this store!! Love this company!! Absolutely LOVE the employees!!! Not only do they have the best shoes at amazing prices... I found out that we can donate our gently used shoes to help people who can't afford new ones!! Right on the store at the Crossville Outlet Center they have a box right by the counter to donate your shoes. And not only are we helping others, we made more room for more shoes
