As a customer I think this place is cool. Fair prices and the woman who works at the front is super friendly. As a seller it’s not great.

I’ve done a ton of consigning in LA, in Phoenix, at franchises AS WELL AS smaller shops like this one. This place just doesn’t seem to be up to date on what’s standard in this industry currently, which seems to make it more of a hassle for everyone.

Usually a place will take a certain number of items to look at PER DAY, not per month. At chic again they say you can bring in 15 items per month, and if they only take two things from your stash, too bad. Try again next month. ? It’s odd.

Other consignment shops have a dedicated selling counter where they look at the items in the moment really quickly, then accept what they can and reject the rest. They don’t expect you to leave your items and get a phone call days later asking you to come pick up the rejects. This is so inefficient!

Also, most consignment shops give clear instructions ahead of time on which items they want and which they really aren’t taking so much. Clear instructions make things easier for EVERYONE. (Some shops are into yoga pants, others say no on that stuff. Some shops are all about particular brands, some don’t care as long as it’s in good condition. Others are like “only skinny jeans, or only bell bottom style jeans, or only designer jeans…” Some say, “plaid is really in right now” etc etc.)

When I first started going here as a seller they usually took almost all of my items unless they had damage and nearly every time every piece would sell! Now I’m wondering if it’s even worth it for me to try selling there because the policies have gotten more and more illogical and inefficient and they hardly take any of my stuff.

I’m writing this review in hopes that the owner will see it and consider changing their policies. I’ve had pristine condition designer brand items rejected from chic again that were happily taken at other consignment/resale shops (and paid me really well outright for them, no less.)

It’s not worth it for sellers if they get vague instructions (“we’re taking winter right now”) only to follow those instructions literally and have the items rejected (“it’s not cold enough weather for these items…”?) and then also get negativity for wanting to pick up the rejected items rather than donate them. (Consignment is a way to make money as a seller. Why would I want to donate them when I know that I can consign them elsewhere and make money Why would I want to go through the effort of shlepping clothes down here to only have a few items accepted each month anyway and drive back again to pick up my rejected items?)

Believe me, I understand that a shop like this is low on space, so they have to be selective. That’s not the issue. The issue is the way they run it and the way they communicate about it… doesn’t work for sellers and frankly, isn’t the most logical way to run their business. Also isn’t the experience sellers expect if they are familiar with what’s typical… I hope they considering changing some of these issues because it definitely has potential to be great.

TLDR: Could use some changes.
1. Clearer instructions on currently desired items
2. Dedicated selling counter that goes through items in real time and sends you home with the rejects right then
3. Ability for sellers to bring it more than just 15 items per month (limit per day or per week is pretty standard)

P.S. If that isn’t possible, they could require appointments. Some shops do both… like Return Style in Redondo Beach takes 12 items per day as a walk-in or 40 items at a time if you make an appointment. They use an online system for appointments and texting system to let you know when your stuff is ready for pick up, same day. Goes pretty smoothly for them this way. Hope to see it get better over time.

This consignment boutique has an amazing selection of beautiful women’s clothes. They have everything from dresses to workout clothes. All price points from $1 to $500 or more and amazing jewelry selection. On top of all that the woman who owns the store is top notch, beautiful and very kind. Highly recommend!

Behind the Red Onion. I love this place. Lots of clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry. They are picky about what they take in, so items for sale are good quality, yet reasonably priced. Staff is lovely and helpful.

Went in real quick to see if I could find a dress for my daughter. I could tell at least 2 of the ladies worked there. Not one of them said hello. They just looked at us like they wanted to know why we were there.

This place is the bomb. We're going to rockabilly this weekend with a big group of friends. Wife was looking for some tops. Michelle was a BIG help. She had a stack of tops for her to try on and walked out with something that will work. Thanks Michelle for all the help!!!
