Cherry Orchard Shopping Center - Sunnyvale, California

The stores at this Shopping Center are great. The reason I gave it 3 out of 5 was due to the parking lot. This is one of the worst parking lot configurations I have ever seen in my life. There are two entrances/exits into the parking lot. One is practically a single lane entrance/exit off of El Camino Real. It constantly backs up out of the parking lot forming a lane down El Camino Real because of the bottleneck of people trying to exit in the narrow lane with people entering. This traffic log is exacerbated by the placement of a popular Starbucks *right at the entrance*. Who thought THAT was a good idea? Meanwhile, the larger entrance/exit on S Mathilda Ave, is typically free-flowing traffic with no back-up.
My solution? Make one entrance only the other exit only. Keep the traffic within the parking lot moving in one-direction instead of both directions which cause traffic jams and near-miss pedestrian accidents. Nearly every time I go to the Trader Joes in this Center, I see incidents of road rage and people unable to back-up due to two directional traffic flow. Like I said, I have no issue with the stores themselves. But the parking lot is a complete design disaster just waiting for someone to get run over or a bad accident to occur.

I love the area, I come here mainly for Trader Joe's but the parking lot is not great. Tough to get in and out with many people walking behind the car. It can be tough to get out.

There are a bunch of solid options in this plaza - Trader Joe’s feels like the anchor. My wife and I have also been to the Sweetgreens and Starbucks.

Parking is honestly very difficult sometimes - the spots are small and the area in front of the stores doesn’t have too many spots. Often we find ourselves just marking around the side or back of the center, by the apartments, and walking.

This is a good quality shopping center, but the parking lot is usually very crowded. The ratio of parking to businesses seems constraining.

Located at the corners of Mathilda & El Camino not far from Sunnyvale City Hall, this shopping center is easy to get to. It houses eateries like Chipotle, PJ Chang, etc, as well as Trader Joe's, which is the main reason I come here. Plenty of parking spaces, so no need to fuss over, like Costco.,

Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Chipotle, and PF Chang's are the main draws to this mall with an inadequate parking lot during peak hours. With the majority of customers wishing to park close to their shops of choice, the best bet is to take the leftover spots further and make the short walk.
