Have you ever just loved a shop or a boutique so much that each time you entered the door you felt like you were visiting family? Well, that’s how it is at my friend, Carol Solomon’s Gallery & Framing shop. When you walk in the door, you are greeted with a great big “Hi, how are you?” from the back. Carol immediately races up to greet everyone.

Stepping inside there are the most inventive, creative and stunning pieces of art. Art, in all forms. All of it’s hand made, sculpted, painted orjeweled. From wood magnifying glasses to blown glass objects, and, even hand made jewelry. Each piece is individual and has a meaning behind it. Carol explains all about how the object is made and the run down of the creator. You almost feel like you know the artist yourself!

It seems as though I am endlessley searching for the perfect gift. There is always a birthday or holiday or a thank you when I need something special for someone special.

Carol is so easy to talk to. All I say is “Carole, I want a gift for my aunt. She’s 68 and has every tchotchke possible. What do I get her? Oh, and she’s picky too! So guess what she finds? A thick, multi colored, daisy shaped, hand blown glass bowl to put my aunt’s nightly medication in. That’s so much better than the Tupperware container she currently has. And so much easier than shopping for clothes!

What looked to me like just a glass flower dish evolved into something important and special for my aunt. It was a hit. And it always goes that way. Every time I go in looking, I come out having found. I don’t have the need to shop anywhere else. Everything is so unique; I can’t go wrong!

The best part of going to Carol’s shop is that after you decide on the gift (sometimes I even buy myself something) you get to stand at the warmest check out counter ever. Her two, tiny, Yorkies sit in their beds on the counter. There is big container of Licorice and an even bigger container for Pretzels. There’s always something to nosh on. It’s kind of like going home for just a quick moment in time.

After she rings you up, Carol gently wraps each gift, ensuring its safety and beauty for the recipient. Knowing you have found the perfect present for someone is always a great feeling.
