Booked this place for a weekend trip to Big Pine Lakes. It ended up being not bad for a motel. Our room was decently clean and spacious. The nice thing is that it is also pet friendly! Would recommend for anyone that is looking for an affordable, convenient, close place to stay.

I’m not sure what the negative reviews are all about? Maybe the place is under new management now?
The staff was just fine and checkin inside the gas station was no problem. If the guy behind the corner seems abrupt, he’s just to the point. The building has a cool cabiny vibe. For that I paid, I fully got my value’s worth: the heather got warm quickly and the tv worked fine, the bed and room were comfy and clean; the bathroom was clean with a working toilet and the shower was hot; WiFi works well, and the fridge & microwave were handy. Great value and would stay again. Not As nice as a couple of places in Bishop, but plenty affordable and worth the very short drive to and from town.

This was our first day here at the Bristlecone Motel. Me my husband and our friend were in town for the Wild Wild West ultra marathon that was taking place in Lone Pine. Since we booked only a few weeks away from the event there wasn't anything left and Lone Pine so we picked the next city up which was Big Pine. The Bristlecone Motel was perfect for our needs and the location was excellent. We stayed in the family room which had three beds two of them were full size beds and one twin size bed. There is a kitchen with a small refrigerator stove and a microwave and coffee pot. There is a dining table. The bathroom shower has a stand-up shower. There is air conditioning, it is a swamp cooler but it works really good. The room was clean. There is a little market right next to the motel and Chevron gas station, that is where you do your check-in and check out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The market really has almost anything you can think of I was surprised. It even has meat dairy and other dry goods. Right across the street there's an amazing coffee spot called Brewed Awakening. I highly recommend going across the street for coffee and breakfast at least once if you stay at Bristlecone Motel. Big Pine is a perfect jumping off spot for exploring lots of the Eastern Sierra. You are right down the road from the Ancient Bristlecone Forest. And you are also right down the road from the trailhead that leads to the Big Pine Lakes the beautiful picture of turquoise lakes as well as one of the most southern glaciers in California the palisade glacier. Big pine is also only about a 15 minute drive from Bishop a larger town with lots of restaurants and shops as well as the gateway to more of the Eastern Sierra. A little further up the road is Mammoth which would be about an hour out of Big Pine. South of Big Pine is Lone Pine that is about a 35 to 40 minute drive and that is the gateway to Mount Whitney as well as Death Valley. I would definitely stay here again The price for the room was very affordable and we were all very comfortable. We were not looking for anything luxurious or fancy but we do want to be comfortable and in a clean room. This checked all the boxes. It is also dog friendly so next time I think we'll bring our dog with us.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. The area didn’t have a great reputation when it came to motels, and most of the options nearby had reviews that made my skin crawl—literally. Talk of dirt, pests, and overall poor conditions didn’t fill me with confidence. So, when I stumbled upon this motel, I was prepared for the worst.

But, wow, was I wrong. This motel may not be a luxury resort, but it’s clean, comfortable, and miles ahead of anything else in the area. The room was simple, but everything was in great condition. I honestly couldn’t believe I found a motel this good, especially given the price and the competition around here.

If you’re looking for a decent, affordable place to stay in this part of the world, this motel is a great choice. It might not come with all the bells and whistles, but it does exactly what a good motel should: make you feel comfortable and welcome. Sometimes, that’s all you need.

I didn’t plan on staying here, but due to some car trouble I wound up desperate for a hotel late on a Wednesday night.

The gentleman at the front desk was incredibly kind and extremely helpful.

This is the kind of motel that people think about when they talk about small towns being friendly and lovely places to stay. Highly recommended.

Although the first impression of the motel was a bit disquieting, bacause of the not very appealing exteriors and surroundings, we were surprised by the comfort and practicality of the place. The family room was large, the space is wisely distributed and organised, the furniture is basic but functional. The cleanliness is very good. The fact that the property inclues a gas station and the minimarket, open 6 am to midnight, is just great. At the minimarket, we bought some excellent breakfast sandwiches!!! Prices are fair. Highly recommended!!
