I would've given this a 5 star if the telescopes were in operating conditions. They have 2 right outside the gift shop where there is a spectacular view & both were out of order ?. Water refill areas were clean & the water was very cold. It's a really beautiful area. Glad we made it to this point.

This is the westernmost stop of the Grand Canyon South Rim/Village area. There are souvenirs and light foods inside the building proper as well as bathrooms outside near the trail. A portion of the Colorado River is visible from this viewpoint.

Well worth the extra ride out there. Rustic building on the side of a cliff with spectacular views of Grand Canyon. Gifts and snacks available.

A peaceful retreat - in glamping style, with hot chocolate, ice cream, coffee, and a gift shop at your disposal. Visiting in winter has its perks - one, you can drive your own car instead of waiting for the shuttle as in the summer months. Two, it was a lot less crowded this time around than what I remember from our previous summertime visit. Views from the West end of the South rim are gorgeous - as are from any other point. Lots of interesting viewpoints on the way to the Hermit’s rest, my favorite being The Abyss.

If you like to avoid crowds and mules, this is the trail for you. It is rocky and can be hard to follow. There is a long meandering stretch at about 4,500 feet which makes the inclines steeper. it is an 11 hour round trip for a well seasoned hiker. There is a water trough about 2 miles down where you can filter. We encountered 7 hikers all day on a Sunday.

Last stop on this shuttle bus route in Grand Canyon. Has a snack bar - strawberry popsicle hit the spot after riding and hiking!
