I’ve had a herniated disc for about four years now. I recently purchased a Herman Miller Embody Gaming Chair hoping it would help my back.

It did not. In fact, it made my back 100x worse. After using the chair for just a few weeks, I was left practically crippled and barely able to move. Around the same time, I got sick and didn’t get the chance to return it within the 30-day window.

When I called the store, the associate was sympathetic, but after checking with the manager, they flatly refused to offer any kind of refund, exchange, or even store credit. I was told to “just sell it on Facebook Marketplace.”

I returned the chair to the store, despite not receiving a refund, and am now disputing the charge with my bank. I can see I am most likely going to have to take these awesome guys to small claims court to get a refund for this chair. Herman Miller, despite being the manufacturer of this supposedly premium product, has offered no assistance or resolution whatsoever.

If you have a back injury, I strongly advise against buying a Herman Miller chair. The product aggravated my condition significantly, and both the retailer and Herman Miller refused to stand behind it. For a brand with this reputation and price point, the lack of customer support has been shocking. I won’t be buying from them again.

My wife and I stopped in a couple of weekends ago to look for a nice office chair to replace some cheaper ones I have been going through over the last 4 or 5 years.

Davie was the first to greet us and asked if we already had a specific chair in mind or if we needed help trying a few out to find what best fit.

We already had the Embody in mind, but tried a couple others he suggested which were also very nice, but when I explained some of my sitting habits he suggested the Embody would be my best fit as it was a bit more flexible in seating positions.

After some time sitting in it, we decided to purchase the Embody Gaming as it came in the color combo we liked.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I have gotten the chair and been able to use it for some long work sessions as well as some fun time at my personal computer.

Wow, he was right in the flexibility of this chair over something more posture/office orientated. It has been an amazing fit so far and something I can easily see myself sitting 10+ hours in.

The team was incredible accommodating.

I actually ordered a chair(embody gaming) and wanted to return it for the aeron c. They were really accommodating and let me keep the chair while the new chair showed up. Not only this but I actually ended up staying with the embody and they applied the summer discount that wasn't originally going on and I couldn't be happier.

The embody has fixed years of back pain and the staff was incredibly accommodating.

Very happy with the customer service I received here. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Ashleigh specifically was very knowledgeable about the different chairs and helped me learn the adjustments on the different models. I went in thinking I wanted the Embody and after trying out every chair decided on the Sayl Gaming since it had the forward tilt function not on the standard Sayl. Since I wasn’t ready to purchase that day Ashleigh was able to send me a purchase link to the Herman Miller store and I ordered the chair a few weeks later with free home delivery. The chair arrived assembled which was a nice change from the Secret lab it replaced.

I have a bias toward Herman Miller products so take that into account with my review. There's a kind of cult following towards the brand. The furniture designs are as much an art piece as it is a technically superior product. The aeron is a symbolic representation of the dotcom boom and failure. You can pick these chairs up on Craigslist and the like for cheap so why buy them here? The quality, warranty, customizations and knowing someone hasn't done something dirty in the chair before you. The warranty is 12 years... unheard-of in this age. Anyway, this store is setup as mostly a showroom where you can try and customize. I own four different Herman Miller chairs as of this writing. I've RMA'd one time since owning all of them. Remember, the warranty does not transfer over if you buy it used. If you buy it used, it's on you to repair. Also, it seems Herman Miller has been nice in most cases to let you buy certain parts if the warranty is not available to you. If you haven't seen Herman Miller products in a while, you should check out the store. They've added loads of custom options from material to color.

I purchased the Aeron chair (Size A). This is easily the best chair I've ever sat in - it's so customizable, I feel like it was made just for me! I worked with Kayti, who provided all the information I needed to make a choice. No high-pressure sales pitch, just comfortable conversation. And the chair arrived even earlier than expected!

I interacted with Vanessa through a chat. While Herman Miller did not have a kneeling chair option to satisfy needs, Vanessa went above and beyond to help me anyway. Outstanding customer service from Vanessa.

My experience at this store was disappointing. I came in to try the Aeron, with the intention to buy if I liked it. My current chair is similar, but from another brand so I wanted to compare.

There were two people working sales in the front. The sales woman was busy with another customer and the guy was free. The guy just asked what brought me in, when I was sitting in the Aeron already. He didn’t tell me anything about the product or seem interested in helping at all. He eventually went to the back room and talked loudly on the phone. Never came out again.

The other lady finished with her customer then headed to the back room. I stopped her to ask how to adjust the chair armrests. She seemed unhappy to be bothered and was a bit passive aggressive. As I struggled with trying to adjust the chair, she just stood at a distance and gave shorts answers. Clearly she wanted to leave and head to the back too. Made no effort to try to teach about the product at all.

I could simply buy my Aeron online and watch some videos on how to use it. Why bother going to the retail store if sales don’t want to help?
