Very pretty. Never expected a visitor center to be this scenic.
Amazing staff.
There is a walking path right next to the visitor center that takes you very close to the water body behind with spectacular views of glacier peaks. A must stop on your way to the Whittier tunnel.

very busy visitor center as it is a stop for a lot of tour busses. clean bathrooms were appreciated. it’s a great stop before or after byron glacier trail as it’s on the way to and from the highway. great informative nature exhibits and cool domed glass room for viewing portage pass and glacier (on a clear day it was raining and foggy when we visited).

What a neat place. Stopped here for a pit stop on our way passing through, and we ended up spending a lot of time exploring. This visitor center was surprisingly well done, with lots of very interactive displays. My only regret is that I didn't have my kids with me, as they would have loved it. A very well-done visitor center in a very scenic place. Definitely an unexpected surprise.

I was shocked to learn that the glacier once reached where the visitor center is. The center provides amazing information about the area and has a great view.

This is an informative visitors center near some glaciers. The staff was friendly and told us interesting facts about the glaciers and this area. It had some nice exhibits.

We took the hike to the Byron Glacier, which was fascinating and sad due to the retreating ice. Some kids and even adults climbed on the glacier and made snowballs, throwing them at each other. It's fine to climb on the ice for a better picture or to reach a cave. But tearing off chunks of it for your amusement is disrespectful. It's a testament to global warming, not a play place.

Everyone was so busy walking across the lake to see the glacier, I can’t believe more people weren’t stopping to see the river and how blue the water is just to the left of the visitor center. Careful walking across the lake. We went April 3 and got half way across and some people coming back said the ground was getting soft and they turned around. It was 3pm so early morning start May be better to get to the glacier.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day inside the center, on the trails, lunch at the day lodge and hour glacier tour on Portage Lake that takes to view Portage Glacier. From Williwaw Campground there is a half mile trail to the center. The center is excellent with a variety of exhibits, some interactive. The film is very good, too.
