Went to chase the waterfalls since it had been raining. Amazing place and so much to see. This is a must do with a group f0r camp and hike or even sightseeing. There is a visitor center with the most informative and knowledgeable ranger( I'm guessing he was a ranger). The gift shop is quaint but you will not be disappointed. I had been eyeing this area for a while, and after all my research, my plan was set in place, and more.

This is the visitor center at the foot of Cave Creek Canyon one of the premier birding spots in the US.
Don't bird it's still great... Great scenery... Great views... Great to be out in the outdoors.

Your pretty far out in the boonies so bring what you'll need... There are stores and some gas stations even a couple of small restaurants but the pickings are pretty thin... Plan ahead.

You'll love the place.

Enter thru Portal, AZ. Do not take an RV trailer longer than 20 feet. Do not attempting to drive across the Chiricahua Mt. Unless you have an offroad or high clearance vehicle. Tent camping is best. Awesome hiking trails. Call ahead for campground reservations. Plan to hike, wall, picnic and lay back on your favorite camping chair. You can do a day trip or stay over night. But if you live more than 2-3hrs away you should leave very early in to morning to take advantage of the sun light

Super helpful volunteer in the store with great local knowledge. Would have been nice to watch the hummingbirds at the feeders except people stood right next to the feeders talking loudly the whole time we were there so no birds came in.
