Great store, great cause. Really need to change store closing hours as some of the older staff habitually become flustered and super rude to customers who come in after 4:30 lol … a lot of overpriced items collecting dust but plenty of good finds too. Go support this store! They have a great impact within the community (just get there early)

If you close at 5, you don’t lock the doors at 4:30 with people inside. Whoever was behind the counter was not happy that an older woman asked why the hours say 5 and not 4:45. If you want to close at 4:45, just make that your hours. They’re not missing out on my cheap purchase but whoever the charity is helping surely is. I’m from out of town and was super stoked to check out a local thrift and this was not the place—it was a waste of time.

If you can’t afford to pay your employees past 5 then change your hours.

I have loved the CAV for many years. But whoever is in charge of current pricing has no clue! Jewelry is more expensive than purchasing it retail. Its quite sad, whoever is in charge needs a reality check. Second hand stores are for more than giving money to a cause. Its should also be about buying something for less expensive because its used.Cav has lost its charm. EVERYTHING IS DONATED. STOP PRICE GOUGING!!!!

I suddenly had some cash burning a hole in my pocket and decided to visit the store today. I’d been out running errands and needed to use a restroom. (My 60+ y/o bladder ain’t what it used to be)
When I asked for the key to relieve myself, I was told “we no longer have a restroom”… I mentioned that I had used it before and was told “that was before!”
I used to shop there as often as possible. Not anymore, I’m sorry to say.
Open your restroom again and I’ll open my wallet again.

I recently tried to donate an entire apartment’s worth of brand-new furniture while escaping a domestic violence situation in Dixon. I wanted to donate to this thrift store but they only accept items on specific days- Tues, Thurs, Sat 10:30am-4pm.

I planned to donate on Saturday, but facing a tight deadline and verbal abuse from the person I was staying with, he refused to transport the items to the thrift store in his truck and trailer where they were stored at the last minute, and gave me 24 hours to get them off his property.

That afternoon, I rented a U-Haul to transport everything myself. Loading my belongings on my own took well into the night and when I called on Sunday morning to plead for an exception, the two women working at the thrift store refused to help, citing being short-staffed. Despite offering to unload the items myself and asking them to contact their manager, they refused and hung up on me.

I called several churches in Española and Taos through out the day on Sunday but was t able to reach anyone. With no other option, I extended the truck rental for a second and then third day, finally dropping off my belongings at the Goodwill in Española late Monday night. My decision to not donate my belongings directly to Goodwill is a personal one, partly due to their high prices and the fact that they spend so little the proceeds helping those in need.

There were some women living in tents nearby who took bedding, clothing, toiletries, and smaller furnishings, but much of it was left behind because I couldn’t find a place to take the donations in time to return for a second trip to retrieve more items from my abuser’s home.

It was devastating to see so many high-quality, new items go to waste due to a lack of compassion and flexibility from the thrift store staff. Sometimes, policies need to make room for empathy.
