Beautiful area. Nice trail about 3/4-1 mile long. One side, side closer to the group shelter, starts off a bit steeper than the other side. Elevation is about a 200+ gain. There is a little park. Grounds are maintained very well. Area is clean. There are vault toilets located throughout the park. The main bathroom is clean, but only has 1 shower. Never really seemed busy though. The campground host was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Was very dog-friendly. Definitely plan on staying again.
One negative is how close the electric sites are to each other and you share a water spigot. Water pressure in RV wasn't the greatest, but the water pressure in the shower at the main bathroom was good.

Beautiful views and large sites that are kept very clean! Absolutely no phone service which makes the stay even more relaxing! I would highly recommend this area and will be coming back again!

Nice park, with some good trout fishing spots. Rangers patrol the grounds frequently. If you enjoy geocaching, there are two in the park. There is one on one of the two hiking trails. The other is in a little wooded area. There is also one at an abandoned playground in Guadalupita. I didn't locate that one : /. Hopefully, you'll find it. Happy hunting, and happy camping. I found the shower to be comfortably warm. It is a small handicap shower, but there is room for a wheelchair to fit inside the dressing area.

This was my third visit. Great location to take the kids. The creek and ponds are very close to the campsites. The fishing isn't great, but the kids enjoyed trying. The camp hosts were very helpful and friendly for our group at the River Group Shelter. The group site has sodium lights that can stay on all night in the shelter. There are power outlets in the shelter, a water spigot nearby, as well as vault toilets. The only thing not functional was the bear box. There is a foot bridge to cross the creek, and vehicles have to ford a 10 foot wide and 1 foot section of the creek. There is also a trail that heads up the hill then heads towards the upper section of the camp to the east.

This was such an amazing find! The campsite was super clean, level and the shelter was so convenient and clean. They power wash them in between campers.
The restrooms/showers were spotless. Really felt like people who worked there took pride in what they do, and it was GREATLY appreciated. The creek runs along the campground, which was beautiful.

Great spot and great people.

So continues the adventures of Mutt and Sidekick. We all came out for the weekend with one of the grandsons to enjoy some away time. This area managed to avoid the brunt of the recent fires that devastated this area. There is considerable work in progress here though. It appears the sites are getting upgrades to include new ramps, painting of the shelters, leveling of the sites, and an overhaul of the entire campground. There is currently no fires allowed or charcoal, propane grills are still good though. The rangers are pretty thorough about all of the rules being enforced for everyone who stays here, even when you’re the only ones currently at the site. It’s actually a good thing though, that means when this area is really busy you won’t have to worry about those that seem to be above the rules. The sites are all pretty much back in sites. Most will have decent shade in the summer with plenty of separation between. The showers and restrooms are all very clean, and well taken care of. The showers though were rather chilly, I would have to say water temp about 100 degrees and the restrooms themselves seemed to be maintained at about 65. Not a pleasant relaxing shower, but you can at least wash the trail dirt off. There are two marked trails in the park and both are pretty easy hikes, the longer one is about 1.5 miles. we took the grandson fishing and despite the claims, there were no fish we could find in the river. I imagine that when it gets closer to the busy season stocking will become more evident and the kids can catch some stockers. For a small park and campground this is a great area with fantastic views and dead quiet at night. We really enjoyed this one and have marked it as comeback spot for us.

First time camping here. Had a blast.. Be prepared for wind and bring a hummingbird feeder. You'll thank me later. Electric loop is close quarters, but as long as you aren't an a$$ it's perfectly fine.

NM-434 is one of the most underrated scenic routes in this state. It runs along the creek in a lush green area with rolling hills and forests. This park is located in a remote area, and it's a pleasant, tranquil place and well-maintained. Definitely a great spot to stop, relax and enjoy the ambiance.
