I visited the Tuckerton Seaport Museum during the Lighthouse Challenge, and it was a fantastic experience! The museum offers a rich look into New Jersey’s maritime history, with exhibits on fishing, boat building, decoy carving, and lighthouse heritage. I enjoyed exploring the recreated maritime village, learning about life along the Jersey Shore, and seeing the authentic artifacts. The lighthouse was especially impressive, and the views from the top were stunning. The staff were friendly and informative, and I loved the hands-on exhibits that made the visit both fun and educational. Highly recommend stopping by, especially if you’re interested in the history of the coastal communities!

Five star effort was put into building and curating the Tuckerton Seaport Museum, and it far surpasses every other light house museum at the shore!! The Tuckerton Seaport Museum offers history, science and art in a clean, bright space with some nice interactive touches. The gift shop is also fantastic, with many interesting choices for both kids and grown ups. We found it well worth the visit!

Fun place, great for children, plenty of history to keep adults entertained as well. The museum is well laid out, with many displays and photographs. It is accessible♿️, with ramps and an elevator that takes one to the second floor (more exhibits). The very top is not accessible, as one needs to climb up a set of stairs and then a spiral metal staircase.
There is a lot to do here… a boat ride on Tuckerton Creek, a self guided walking tour, a nature trail… there’s a gift shop as well. No pets allowed.
Plenty of parking.
Cost $5

Loved it. It was the lores tour. At dusk and super calm returned in dark. They provided a narrator who read tales of the original light house fell into the bay and Jersey Devil tale. Saw deer, and cranes. Before and after went in the gift shop- bought tee shirts-like save turtles, and many little books on Haunted homes, Jersey Devil lore, Piney culture and more. I was raised in Jersey-liked to think I know all things Jersey. Plan to return for Christmas tour. I am told stop at Wawa for hot chocolate and bundle up-homes you’ll see will be light up with Christmas lights and our ferry will play the Christmas music. Can’t wait.

We went during the off season and got there later in the afternoon so there wasn't a lot of things to do. We will be going back when they open for the season and go on the boat tour. There are craft classes available such as decoy carving, so if you like doing things like that I highly recommend checking it out. I will post an update when we go back.

Outstanding! My children (11 and 7) loved all the hands on exhibits- especially the typewriter and the sand boxes. This whole site is an absolute treasure for education and preservation. Having a replica of the lighthouse is such a special treat. It's clear that a lot of heart and soul went into curating each exhibit on the property. Having the games, crafts, and admission included in the cost for the boat tour was a godsend for a family on a budget. My kids loved every aspect of our adventure and didn't want to leave when it was time to go. All of the Halloween touches were so much fun!! This was our first visit and we all fell in love with the seaport so we'll definitely be back!

Pleasantly surprised by all the cool shops and out buildings turned museums! I was expecting to just visit a lighthouse but got to see all kinds of cool things like a decoy carving shop, a surfing museum and a steampunk tea house! This should definitely be a place to visit if you like touring lighthouses and would like to learn more about the past in this area of NJ.

A terrific local museum showcasing life around Tuckerton, from decoy making to clamming. Lots of hands-on displays for kids to enjoy, and lots of info on local bay heritage and conservation as well. Local creek tours via boat rides are available too!
