We visited the Micanopy Trading Outpost on a weekday in October, 2023. It is my understanding that this building was used as the automotive repair shop in the movie, “Doc Hollywood”. That made it more interesting to me. Although they have since installed a floor over the existing dirt floor seen in the movie and the buildings past.
The Trading Post itself was one of the few buildings open for business when we arrived. We were greeted by Jimmy the Cat. What an extremely friendly cat. Although he opens his mouth like he’s meowing, but nothing seems to come out. But he was a great ambassador for the trading post.
The trading post itself had some nice items. Prices are subjective to one’s personal opinion. The owner was quite friendly to us as well. We did not make a purchase. But we had little room to carry anything with our mode of transportation. That truly kept us on a leash and kept us from impulse buying.
All in all, the trading post was a nice little antique shop. We may stop back in sometime when in the area. Obviously their offerings could change as the nature of their business.

Loved walking around Micanopy and into the antique shops. This shop had an interesting box that looked familiar to us. We wanted to see it and get information on the box. The lady working on Friday at the time couldn’t find the key. She asked us to come back before 4 because she reached out to someone for help. We did just that. We arrive at 320 and she had closed up shop already. We were soooo disappointed. We came back on Saturday around noon to try to catch her open and take a look. All the other shops were open but not this one again. Disappointed. We tried a final time before coming home on Sunday. The shop owner next door said the shops do open on Sunday. We were met with disappointment again. We really wanted to take a look at that box. Ultimately we left Micanopy disappointed.

We met owner’s cat Charlie as he rests in the store comfortably. The store is genuine, charming and with great selection of true vintage furniture and items, many gems waiting for your discovery. A must go spot if you live antiques. Much better selection than many other antique shops we’ve visited around the globe.

Oh Lawdy, sometimes we over share places, word gets out and those places we love quickly become over crowded concrete jungles.
Aka: Orlando.
Micanopy claims to be The Cutest Small Town
In Florida and I must agree.
The streets are canopied with huge Oak Trees, lots of fun shops, dinning and great historical photo ops.
I highly recommend visiting Coffee N Cream, Dorie and Lisa are just too sweet!

I stopped by to take some pictures of this quaint little town, but it was early so I was surprised that something was open. I was greeted by Jimmy, the chill cat. 😀❤️ The owner was very nice, and there were some nice pieces , but I was already loaded down with a sewing machine and cabinet and ladder. Maybe I can come back next time I'm passing through since it's a mile off the highway.
