Perfect place to acclimate before hiking Whitney. Campsites are spacious and have all the essentials (grill and fire pit). Portal store is up the road where you can get last minute supplies or food for your hike. I packed a few sandwiches with me.

Wonderful campground just outside the trail to Mt Whitney. Lots of space, trees, flat ground for tents, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site. I was astounded at how clean the toilets were and they had multiple locations for potable water. Can’t wait to camp here again!

Lovely campground and creek nearby but beware: we had a bear come to our campsite around 11 pm while we were standing by the fire pit... He was about 5 feet from us. Despite not having ANY food out (it was in the bolted-down bear cabinet) the bear was bold enough to come that close. Please be good campers and put EVERYTHING with a scent in the storage bin so they don't get comfortable coming up to humans.

Great campsite with a awesome view of Whitney.

Beware at 1AM when we were preparing to get ready to go up Whitney we had left our bear bin open by about a inch I was standing approximately 5 feet away from it and the second I turned my back I hear a clang behind me and a black bear had jumped inside of our bear bin and was rummaging through our food packs. The bear took one and started to run away but I chased after it yelling. It attempted to cross the road but stumbled when jumping across the gap and dropped our bag thankfully.

Life lesson don't ever leave your bear bins open unless you are actively using it

Great place to camp with access to Whitney. The lots were full on Saturday morning early so I was glad I could wake up and hike up to Lone Pine Lake. Water, nice smelling pit toilets, a store with stuff, ice, firewood and burgers. Not as much privacy in general but everyone was really well behaved. Lots of family campers.

This is one of the most beautiful place I visited....We stayed in a walk in campground, more work but so worth it, falling asleep with the sound of the river was so nice. Very nice store with great food. Bummed the dogs are not allowed on the trail but I do understand why.

This isn't your typical hotel experience; it's a serene campground tucked away in the heart of nature. The spacious campsites, bookable via the government site, offer discounted rates for holders of interagency access passes. The journey up to the location is a scenic delight, offering breathtaking views of Death Valley National Park from the summit.

Once settled in, you'll find a refreshing creek nearby, perfect for a cooling dip and some leisurely fishing. Numerous hiking trails beckon, each offering stunning vistas of the Sierra mountains. The campsite facilities, including restrooms, are impeccably maintained, with sturdy food cabinets to keep bears at bay.

Just a few miles north lies the inviting hot springs, a popular spot for relaxation. Whether you prefer the free communal springs or a paid visit to an olympic-sized pool, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

As always, remember to be mindful of the surroundings, keep the area clean, and preserve the natural beauty of the environment by refraining from littering and always picking up after yourself. As always, focus on the good and enjoy the serene beauty of nature.
