The lady at the cut counter was clearly very busy but she was still so nice and helpful, the cashier was also nice and helpful. When I look at this store I feel like it has less fabric than what I'm hoping for but then I find what I'm looking for so I guess the have all the right stuff for me. There's always remnants and plenty of things on sale.

Don't let the size of this Joann fool you, it's small, but they tend to always have what I'm looking. And if they don't, there's another close by so that just means I'll have to visit both! 😂

My wife always come to Joann Fabic and Craft to buy supplies martial for her job as teacher she needs the martial for school projects for the childrens at her school. We also go to different Koann Fabic and Crafts in different area.

Came to Joanns looking for some items I needed for a project. After having gone to several craft stores I found one item here that fit my budget. They only had 6 of the items I needed on the floor and I needed 20. However after looking around some more I noticed a box on the top shelf that had more of the items I was looking for. I did ask an employee if they had more and that I did see a box on the top shelf contaning this item. The employee simply ignored what I said and relied on the computer they carry around which told them they only had 4 available in store which did not make sense, since I was holding 6 in my hand. Would of not taken her no more than 5 minutes to check.

According to one employee, the district manager "has no clue what they're doing." (I overheard this. It wasn't said to me.) At the register, cashier #38815 (older, dark hair, glasses, & semi thick accent) seemed annoyed with me & made me feel very rushed like I was a hoodlum because, I can only assume, I used my digital coupons. As I put my wallet back in my bag off to the side (bc I was being rushed) the lady asked the next customer "do you have a phone number with us?" She didn't ask me that question. She was even visibly more polite to that customer too. What is that about I'm a typical human. I didn't stink. My clothes are clean. Not sure why I was treated like a pest. Not coming back.

On Friday, 05/22/24, with several stops to make & one of those stops closing soon & since Joann's (Store 1873) was the closest & I only needed several specific items from there, I went there first. Entering the store at 8:40 PM, I was surprised to find at the late hour several other customers, both shopping & needing assistance & at the register as well. I went about searching for the items needed, but wasn't able to locate them, so I asked for assistance from the staff, a young woman named Eden. Although not everything I needed was in stock, Eden clearly knows Joann's product inventory well (zippers & a couple other items) & what she wasn't familiar with (outdoor fabric UVA/UVB protection), she located a similar product quickly for me.

I was impressed not only by her knowledge & willingness to assist me, but also by her attitude, demeanor & disposition, especially considering the number of other customers requiring help. She helped me with a smile & looked directly at me when we spoke. The manner in which she treated & responded to me is RARE these days as most of the time the opposite happens.

As it turns out, the cashier who 'rang' me up, Lotus was the same way. Neither of these young women ever showed any negative reaction to my being hurried &, in fact did the opposite, worked quickly to help me, and I was able to make my next stop before the store closed too!

Although I have already thanked both of these two Joann staff members personally, this review is to let everyone know how much they are appreciated. They deserve to be recognized!

This weekend I was a patron at your Lakewood California establishment. Where I spent about an hour trying to pay for an item online, the manager would not price match and after so much work just bought it at in store price.

I went up to the register and asked the young lady at the register, if there was a restocking fee incase it was the wrong machine/ any issues or any associated fees and if it was possible even to return. She stated if the box was not opened yes I could return without no associated fees however if it was opened it would go through a third party to get a replacement.

The customer behind me offered to see what I was asking- the cashier said I had to purchase the item before she could bring it up.. the customer realized it was incorrect and I showed the manager- she said because I changed my mind she was not going to return it. I said no I just want the correct product. She said she was going to charge me a $25 fee and that I should have known. She raised her voice and kept smacking a paper in front of her screen. I told her I was disabled which is why I verbally asked to make sure. I am on the spectrum.. and she started mocking me as did another associate that was not at the register. The cashier that assisted me told the manager I never asked anything. And the manager said see now we’re clear. That cashier was untruthful. The manager kept mocking me and getting louder.. this caused a scene and absolutely embarrassed and humiliated me. I do not leave my home for this very reason.. it was so traumatizing.. I did let her know it was unfair bc she seen I just purchased it and I was only asking for the right item.. and to honor the coupon for the sewing supplies. She absolutely refused even turning her screen saying she could not override it..
as I exited the store.. the customer that has been behind me stopped me and offered her phone number- she said she heard me ask the cashier a lot of questions.. i wanted a protection plan as well which she never did find out if one was available..
the manager and the other associate not at the register- kept hollering and tapping the paper where they said it said there was a fee. And both mocking my obvious disability.
I walked out shaking and broke down in my car..
I didn’t get any sleep.. the manager raising her voice and mocking me was so shocking.. I didn’t fall asleep until 10am the next day.. I cried for hours. It was so hurtful and debilitating.. I have been working on exposure therapy and this will significantly hinder any progress I’ve made over the last 8 months..

I did phone other locations with La Habrá being one of them.. where that manager Jasmine (who is who picked up) was so kind and graceful. She offered to make it right and get me what I needed. She apologized for something that she did not have any involvement in and took responsibility for it. She offered me an invitation to her location where she said her associates would treat me with respect and assist me with getting the items i needed.

I do plan on visiting the location in the future (as I live quite a ways away).

I am not asking for free anything, or an apology.
I simply wanted to express associates at your Lakewood California location treated me with such chalice and disrespect that will affect me for a very long time.. Lauren is the assistant manager who mocked me for my disability, and refused to assist, another young lady in a black hoodie and green apron, and the other young black cashier who blatantly lied to the manager and misinformed me. This is not what I know Joann’s culture to be..
