2/6/25-When I stopped for the night the guy at my hotel recommended this place. It had classic American food. I ordered the catfish which came with fries and slaw. I would say that the volume to price was ok. The problem was how greasy the fish was. They really needed to dry the fish on paper towels or something. The batter had a good flavor, but just way too much grease. I actually could not finish my fish because of how greasy it was and I would not recommending this dish if you do not have a gallbladder. The server was nice.

87 was a suggestion by 2 other people in town so we had to check it out and we were so happy we did! The extra fried catfish was incredible! A deep fried Veggie basket was filled with okra, Mozzarella sticks, onion rings amd other tasty items. Angel served us with a smile and a few funny stories about the town of Clayton. The restrooms were very clean as was the whole establishment.
87 was delicious! The outdoor patio was huge and iconic in its decoration for the SW.
We enjoyed our time off the road at 87 and think you will too!
Thanks 87 for a great meal!

Stopped in on a foggy morning and ordered 2 Western Omelets and a hot cup of coffee to go. Staff is super friendly, professional, and helpful. Got our order in about 15 mins in spite of a full restaurant.

The Omelets were flavorful, full of freshly diced veggies and ham. They came with a nice blended salsa and 2 slices of buttered toast. Everything was delicious!

The coffee was not good. The only complaint we could make. We went next door and got coffee from Love's. Might have been a bad pot, but it tasted chemically.

Anyway, highly recommend the breakfast menu here. We'll be back to try lunch our next time through town.

I stopped in for breakfast after leaving Denver early that morning. I always like to try the local breakfast spots as they usually have the best food. The service was good and I can’t give it a five star because of the food and the price. I know prices have gone up but I ordered the chorizo and eggs with a side of sausage. The chorizo and eggs were good, can’t really mess that up. The sausage patties were the premade and heat up in the microwave kind. I also have a coffee and my grand total was $23. That’s at best anywhere else a $10-$12 meal. I won’t be stopping here again because it’s not made fresh and it cost as much as a steak dinner anywhere else.

Others in my group had hamburgers. Each said their burger was exceptional! Serve was awesome also!

Food and service in Clayton are pretty sketchy.
Each time we've stopped her we have been pleasantly surprised.
Invaded on a Thursday lunch hour with a group of 20, and they were more than accommodating. Felt bad for overwhelming th every nice young lady waiting tables, but she handled our group of idiots with polite and excellent service.
Fully recommend stopping in. Food is consistently good and the people are great.
The patio outside is perfect, with shade and comfortable seating.

I'm in town on business, and I was seduced by reviews of handmade chicken fried steak. I could hear the cook pounding the meat in back. I am delighted to say the dish did not disappoint! Wow. Wow. Wow. You know how you know? Check the picture of the bottom of that steak..crunchy. I enjoyed the green beans, which were well seasoned, and the homemade mashed potatoes were tasty with a good consistency. Even the side salad was good with homemade ranch dressing. Simple, honest homemade food.
The service is also phenomenal. My Texas-born waitress was professional, gracious, and friendly. She was also efficient and anticipated as well. The environment is neat with a lot of things to look at. The place looks very put together, but in a rustic and comfortable way. This place is a winner. For sure! UPDATE: I came back for lunch, and it was another 5 star experience!
